The Statement: Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the
                              Living God

Scene 2 - Jesus Replies

  • The Proclamation of Blessedness of Simon
    • God the Father is the one who reveals

  • The Proclamation of Building of Christ's Church
    • Strong Person: Peter
    • Strong Statement: Foundation of the Church
    • Strong Description: Spiritual Invincibility

Main Point 1 - The Statement is the Foundation of the Church

  • The Giving of Authority

      • Authority to Bind and to Loose
        • Decision Making
        • Teaching and Doctrines

  • The Strict Warning
    • Make His identity as the Christ a secret
      • Reason of the Strict Warning
        • The Happenstance of His Death (Based on the next passage)

MAIN IDEA: When there is Confession, The Church Exists.

  1. CONCLUSION

There are many so-called churches today, but do they have this statement. If not they are not the church that Christ built.

SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE!

Text: 2Kings 5:1-14

I. INTRODUCTION

Beowulf an epic story that presents the heroism of a man named Beowulf by protecting the people from the attack of a monster
named Grendel. However, the story presents also the pride of Beowulf which was his downfall eventually.

II. BODY

Background
  • The time of prophet Elisha, the Northern Kingdom had an alliance with Assyria.
  • Assyrian took some people from Northern Kingdom to be their servants.

Plot o the Story.
INTRODUCTION: (1-7) THE GOOD NEWS TO BE HEALED (THE PROCLAMATION)

LINK EVENT: (8-10) THE WORD FROM THE PROPHETS

PROBLEM: (11-12) THE PRIDE OF CAPTAIN

LINK EVENT: (13) THE ADVISE OF THE SERVANTS

SOLUTION: (14) OBEYING THE PROPHET'S WORD

CENTRAL IDEA OF THE SERMON: THERE IS NO SALVATION FOR THE PRIDEFUL PERSON

GOD'S WORK TO SAVE THE PERSON HE HUMBLED
  1. GOD PREPARES THE EVENTS FOR SALVATION
  1. GOD PLACES HIS WORD TO THE PREACHERS
  2. GOD PUSHES HIS PLAN FOR SALVATION

III. CONCLUSION

  • There is a rumor about Christopher Hitchens, who is an atheist, that he became a Christian in his deathbed. But the confession of his widow, "He was utterly of himself." This means that his pride of his belief that there is no God despite the proclamation of the Gospel to him on his deathbed by his Christian friends is a witness that there is no spiritual healing for his soul...no salvation. That's a sad thing.

  • God is working. Humble yourselves before the Lord and be saved. There is no salvation for the prideful person.

Brothers, We Still Have Time

Text: Matthew 25:14-30

Introduction: Are you a servant of the Lord?
Story:  The instruction of my mother every
                            Saturday before she left us.

Plot: The Master of the servants will go on a journey.

Scene I - Before the Journey (v14-15)
  • He entrusted His Properties
    • We are all servants - believers and unbelievers (in church context
    • According to their ability -
      • time, possession, education, capability
    • God knows the portion for us because He created us and designed us according to His purpose.
Illustration: A 60 plus-year old  pastor
Point: A faithful servant has a true knowledge of his life.
Everything you have is not yours.
           Death will prove it.

Challenge: The differences does not matter, but what are you
going to  do with what God has entrusted to you?

Let us find out what they have done with the things that were entrusted to them.

Scene II - While on the Journey (v16-18)
  • The two immediately invested what they have received.
    • There is a sense of urgency. (last days)
    • They need to make a profit out of what they have received from their master.
  • The third servant dug the soil and buried his

Point: A faithful servant has a true knowledge of his liability
God is expecting us to be fruitful for His kingdom.

Challenge: Do we care for the vineyard of God to make it
                    fruitful.?
Do we invest the things God has given to us
Are we advancing the Kingdom of God?
Are we serving right now? What ministry are you
         in?

Scene III - After the Journey (v19-30)
  • The master returns to settle the accounts with them
  • Accomplishment and Commendation (v20-23)

      • His assessment about his master (v24)
        • Lawgiver - not to burden us but to protect us.
        • Allowing us to experience trials is not just to punish or test us, but to tell us that we need a Savior, or to make us grow in character for those who are in Christ.
      • His alibi (v25)
    • Condemnation
      • The master's assessment of his character.
        • Wicked - for accusing his master.
        • Lazy - for his alibi
          • His alibi cannot justify his laziness (v26-27)
      • Nothing will be left, but judgment (v28-30)

Point: A faithful servant has a true knowledge of his Lord
Challenge: Do you know our Lord Jesus Christ?

Question: Who are the faithful servant of the Lord?

Main Idea: Let us be faithful as we wait the Lord.
True knowledge of life, liability, Lord.

Conclusion:

To those who are faithful servants, keep faithful all the more.
To those who are not, to those who are unbelievers, now you know that your life is not yours but entrusted by God, and you are liability while you are living. Know the Lord Jesus Christ according to His claim and not to our assessment.

There is still time to dig and get the life that God has entrusted to you. Live out the life, be faithful before His return.

HADLANG SA PAGSAMBA SA GITNA NG PIGHATI

TEXT: Job 1:20-22
I. Panimula

A. Ang Pananalanta ng Bagyo
B. Pandaigdigang Baha
C. Ang Pagkawasak ng Sodoma at Gomora
D. Personal na Pighati

II. Mensahe

Ang Dalawang Tamang Perspektibo sa Pagsamba sa Gitna ng Pighati

WHEN CLOCK STARTED TO TICK

TEXT: Genesis 1:1

INTRODUCTION

A. The Book of Genesis
·        The first verse of the first chapter of the first book of the Bible
·        The book of Genesis is the book of beginnings (Origin)
·        The first three words “in the beginning is the title of the book – Bereshit”
·        The word “BEGINNING” is important word because:
o   It expresses the existence of time
o   It tells us also that time does not exist before
o   And before the time exist – there is God
§  If you will ask me when God exist? – Time is greater than God
o   Time is not coexistent with God – Time has its beginning but God has no beginning
§  Therefore God exist when time does not exist yet
o   God is beyond time
§  Therefore God has no past, nor present nor future
§  Our life is within the vastness and greatness of God’s eternity

Title: When Clock Started to Tick

II. BODY

The 4 Realizations When Time Began

1. The Execution of God’s Plan
·        Before the existence of time – God has a plan (Single Complete Plan) – No Contingency Plans
o   He has a plan of creation because He has a plan of salvation – 1Peter 1:20; Ephesians 1:4
·        And when the clock started to tick – The execution of His plan has started
o   The plan of creation, fall, of every detail even the fall of the little bird, salvation, preaching the Gospel to advance the kingdom, persecution and tribulation, glorification, judgment, first coming and second coming and restoration,  and whatever may come to pass is part of one complete plan of God
·        Discrediting the Deism
o   God after creating everything left everything to the creatures.
o   FYI – God includes Himself within time – The Divine Interventions – The God who became man
Challenge: People strongly insist his own plan against God’s plan by not giving attention to His written will. If we
know that at the very beginning, that whatever is happening to us is part of God’s plan why do we act like
Job as if he wanted to tell God what to do.
Application: God does not want us to complain – (Learn from the complain in the wilderness – we are like them)
But in whatever situations in we must trust Him (1Peter 1:6-7;1Thess.5:18; Job 1:21)

We must acknowledge Him in every situation knowing that it is His plan – not to harm us but prosper us

2. The Existence of God’s Creation
·        When the clock of God started to tick – the creation also exist
o   For without time there is no creation
o   Time – Heavens - Earth
·        Ex Nihilo
o   Creation is from out of nothing
o   There is no raw materials when God created time, heavens and earth
o   The word nothing does not exist – before creation all in all is God therefore there is such thing as nothing – it is either physical or spiritual
·        Creation is Self-Projection of God
o   Four times God said “and it was good” and after He finished creating – “And It Was Very Good”
o   Creation tells that there is God (The Fool say to His heart “There is no God” – Psalms 14:1;53:1)
o   There are three creation in humanity
§  The first creation – in the image of God but because of sin of Adam we are also tainted with
sin but human must conform to the image of God
§  Regeneration – new creation but because of sinful nature in us through our body
§  Glorification – new creation of spirit will have a new body and the conformity to God’s image
             will be forever and ever
Note: John 17
Challenge: When clock started to tick, God’s creation exists to project God’s image.
Since we are the new creation of God we must project the image of God in us – Christ-likeness is our goal
And the completion of these is our glorification in Christ Jesus to project God’s image in us forever

3. The Exaltation of God’s Being
·        When the clock of God started to tick creation exists and God exalts His being as God through His creation
·        The Declaration of His Glory and His Righteousness
o   Psalm 19:1; 50:6; 97:6
o   Romans 1:20
·        The Deliverance of Creation from Corruption
o   Romans 8:19
·        The Distinction Between Creator and Creation
o   Creation is visible while Creator is invisible
o   Creation is measurable but Creator is immeasurable
o   Creation has beginning while Creator has no beginning
o   Creation is changing but Creator does not change
o   Creation cannot sustain itself but God can sustain
§  The laws of nature is the law given by God – that’s why God defy nature when there’s a miracle. (Colossians 1:17)
Challenge : We are God’s creation and let God exalts His being as God in us. (Ephesians 2:10). Let our distinction with
                     God gave us humility.

4. The Expression of God’s Love

·        When the clock started to tick, the love of God is being expressed.
o   The very act of God is love.
o   The very fact is that God has prepared for man before He created them
o   The providential power of God
·        The Expression of God’s love in His Daily Provision
o   He alone can provide
o   He alone can attend to our needs according to the riches of His glory
o   He alone knows what we need on that day
o   To Him alone we can pray for our petitions (Philippians 4:6)
o   He knows our need,
·        The Expression of God’s love in Giving His Son for Salvation
o   God does not start the history for man to be lost forever without Savior
o   He provided a Savior before the foundation of the world
§  The plan to send His Son to suffer and die for the salvation of men is before the time tick and when the clock started to tick the love of God is expressed – Remember Jesus is firstborn among the creation (Colossians 1:15)
Challenge: Our Physical and Spiritual Needs are started to realize when the clock started to tick. We are recipients of

God’s love. Go back to the Source of everything in prayer... ask and seek and knock

TRULY JESUS IS THE ANSWER

TEXT : JOHN 10:11-29
TITLE: TRULY JESUS IS THE ANSWER
MESSAGE: THE DEATH OF JESUS IS THE ONLY ANSWER FOR THE COMING JUDGMENT

INTRODUCTION

·        The greatest problem of man and most ignored is the judgment of God
·        The only possible not  to experience this is Jesus Christ – Through His Death

Read the Text , Pray

A. Two Views of Atonement

1. Limited vs. Unlimited Atonement
·        Unlimited Atonement – Unlimited in Scope (Christ died for all) but limited in power to save (can be lost)
·        Limited Atonement – Limited in Scope (Christ died for the elect) but unlimited in power (cannot be lost)
2. Potential vs. Actual Atonement
·        Potential Atonement – Christ’s death gives man ability to save themselves
·        Actual Atonement – Christ’s death gives man assurance of salvation

3 Elements of Atonement

1. Sacrifice – What did Jesus’ death accomplish?

·        Lay down His life for the sheep (v.11, 15, 17
·        The Problem of Christianity
o   Most Christians believe in the Potential Atonement
§  Christ paid the penalty of all sins of every people – why still there will be a judgment for some
§  Hell will be populated by people redeemed by Jesus – Double Jeopardy
§  The decision will be left to man
§  Jesus’ death will be totally useless, ineffective, never accomplish anything
·        Nature of the Atonement
o    Atonement is Actual
o   Pay the Full Price of Penalty
§  God poured out His wrath to Him that supposed to be for us
§  He died our death and drank our hell
o   Sins were imputed to Him
§  Substitutionary atonement – Vicarious atonement
§  He died in our place (Isaiah 53:5,6,8c)
o   Atonement is Actual and Limited
§  The Goal of His death has been accomplished
§  Eternal life is possible (v.10:28, 10)

2. Security – Can Salvation be lost?

·        Holding to the Potential and Unlimited Atonement salvation can be lost
o   It is the decision of man is the final say and not the accomplishment of His death
·        Actual and Limited Atonement have the assurance of salvation (vv.28,29; 6:39)
·        The essential question – What is the determiner of salvation – Death of Christ or Decision of Man

3. Scope – To whom Christ died?

·        Most answer will be – Christ died for all
o   Verses that seemingly contradicts (Mark 10:45 and 1John 2:2)
·        The Determiner of to Whom Christ Died
o   Relationship in Terms of Possession (v.14, 24 )
§  My own, My Sheep – signifies relationship/ possession of Christ
§  This will introduce the sheep in verse 11 to whom Christ lay down His life and the sheep Jesus does not own in verse 26
o   Relationship in Terms of Manifestation
§  The First Manifestation is LOVE (v.14,27) the word KNOW

§  The   Manifestation is OBEDIENCE (v.27) the word HEAR, FOLLOW, (LORDSHIP)

TEXTO : 2 Timoteo 4:6-8
TITULO : Ang Kabuuan ng Buhay Kristiyano
MENSAHE: Ang Buhay ng Kristiyano ay Isang Mahirap na Labanan para sa Makalangit na Gantimpala mula sa Diyos

PANIMULA

Hinaharap
·        Pagtanggap ng gantimpala – Ang Pangako ni Kristo

ANG TATLONG MAHAHALAGANG SANGKAP NG  KABUUAN NG BUHAY KRISTIYANO

I. PAKIKIPAGLABAN SA ISANG MAKABULUHANG LABAN (PANGINOON)

§  Mateo 5:10-11)

o   John Stephen Ahkwari (1968 Olympic Player – Mexico) “My country did not send me 5000 miles to start the race, they sent me 5000 miles to finish the race”
