Hindi pa Huli ang Lahat......

Text: Luke 16:19-31

I. INTRODUCTION

      • Iba't ibang seremonyas at dasal

Dahil dito:
CIS: ANG SALITA NG DIYOS AY DAPAT MARINIG PARA SA IKALILIGTAS MULA SA PAGHAHATOL

CONCLUSION

Get Rid of Sin

Text: Romans 6:5-14

  1. Introduction
June 30, 2016 is the beginning of the new government in our country.
Main Idea: Let us live under a new government-the government of grace

  1. Body
We are no longer under the government of law, but under the government of grace.
  • Explain the meaning of not under the law but under grace.
    • Misinterpretation: they relate this in observing the OT Law.
    • Interpretation: Living under the unconverted state to converted state
      • From domain of Satan to Domain of God
      • From darkness to light
      • From death to life
      • From condemnation to salvation

Propositional: 2 Intentional Acts to live under grace.
Main Points
  1. Condition the mind that you are in Christ not to justify your sinful acts
    • Most Christians try to justify their selves whenever they commit sin : I am only human.
    • Instead of justifying the sinful act, they should tell themselves: "I am dead to sin, and alive to God; sin is not my master, God is."
  1. Illustration: Living in another place for a long time, it is hard to get used to a new environment . (OFW, prisoners, immigrants).
    1. Dead to Sin - the old life
    1. Alive to God - the new life.
  1. In Christ - being united with him in all aspects according to what the Scripture says.
  1. Challenge: Are you justifying your sinful acts that you are just human? Why not saying, "I am in Christ, I am no longer under the power of sin

2. Control your Desire not the desires master you
The sinful desire still residing in the flesh.
Let not sin reign - prevail, flourish, rule, master
Illustration: Raptors in Jurassic World
  • How to master your desire -
    • Do not present your members to sin as instrument for unrighteousness
    • Present yourselves to God  (as those….) (and your members for righteousness)
The word "to present" has intentionality, availability, being ready at disposal.
  • Let your body be used for anything that will glorify God
    • Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. (1 Cor 6:19)
    • Your body should be a living sacrifice. (Rom 12:1)
Challenge: How do you use your body now that you say you are in Christ?
You are now in Christ. There is  changed of government, so you must have a changed life. You are now in a new condition, new environment but, why the way you think, speak, and act are still the same when you are not in Christ?

 III. Conclusion
Ice age 3 - there are three baby t-rexes nursed by Sid (sloth).
  • If you are still living under the old government, the old nature, and justifying your sinfulness instead to come to repentance...it is more likely that you are not yet a Christian. You are just deceiving yourselves.
  • Go to your room this evening, pray to God. Ask Him if you are in Christ. If you found out that you are not, God is gracious and merciful. Come to Him and beg Him to save you from the old government of your life, the law, the sin. Ask Him to save you.
  • But if you found out that you are in Christ, prove it. Live under the government of grace - the changed life in Christ.

Faith and the Future Promise

TEXT: Numbers 14:1-12

I. INTRODUCTION
A bad report: What does the person feel when he receives a bad report about a fatal disease or a tragedy, termination in a certain job…...the world around him stops, consumed by negative thoughts, inappropriate behavior…..
A bad report brings threat in the lives of the people

II. BODY
Background:
  • Moses sent 12 spies to spy out Canaan
  • Joshua and Caleb brought a good report about the land
  • The other spies brought a bad report about the land.

Report to Rebellion
  • People reacted on the bad report
  • The report brings threat to the people
  • They fear of the people in Canaan (enemies)
  • They did not want to go anymore to land that God has promised to their fathers.
  • They wanted to go back in Egypt
Note: Rebellion against God  is about not pursuing the will of God
Point: Lack of Faith leads to rebellion by protecting one's self and not pursuing
Challenge: When a difficult situation hit you, are you going to pursue God's will or go back in the
                    opposite direction?

Rebellion to Rejection
  • The leaders exhort the people
    • Rejection of God's promise
    • Rejection of God's precepts
    • Rejection of God's protection
    • Rejection of God's people
Note: Rejection of the things of God is about devaluing the will of God
Point: Lack of Faith leads to rejection because the will of God has no value at all for him
Challenge: Do you value the will of God? Then pursue it.

Rejection to Retribution
  • Despite all the signs still they do not believe instead they despise God
    • Deliverance from Egypt
    • Parting of Red Sea
    • Provision in the wilderness
  • Retribution: God will bring pestilence, disinherit them from the people, and they will not be part of the blessed nation at all.
Note: This is not loosing one's salvation. Rebellion and Rejection of God and the things of God till
their death shows that they do not have salvation to start with.
Point: The one who continue till the end is saved (cf: Matt 24:13)
Challenge: He has proved to us His being as God. Let us not despise Him.

CIS: Faith is all we need to continue to live to attain God's promise in our lives.
  • Joseph's faith made him to continue to live in the will of God until he reached the promise of God; Paul; Peter; and other Apostles and martyrs.

III. CONCLUSION
William Jensen Reynolds, an American hymn editor included his composed hymn "I HAVE DECIDED TO FOLLOW JESUS" in Assembly Songbook in 1959. This is based on the words of man in Assam (northeast of India) was converted and his family who experienced threat because of his belief.

Will the Real Christian Please Stand Up

Text: Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23
Title: Will the Real Christian Please Stand Up

I. INTRODUCTION
     - Fake is very rampant in our country (shoes, accessories, shirt, rice)
     - Fake is hard to distinguish from the real or patented products and it is a scary thing if it is food because
somebody might get poisoned by fake products.
    - But is more horrible if someone knows what is fake and yet he/she ignores, tolerates, and accepts the
       fake products.
    - This is the same today in our church. Fake Christians are rampant in the church and must be addressed
or else they will be in great danger.

II. BODY

Background
  • Jesus was teaching inside the house (12:46)
  • The last statement that Jesus emphasized is "For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.
  • Chapter 13 is the chapter of the Parables of the Kingdom of God
    • Kingdom of God is one of topics that Matthew emphasizes so that the recipient may understand this concept.
    • Kingdom of God is about a King and His way to rule
    • Kingdom of God is about salvation and judgment.
      • OT stories portray this idea: Flood; Crossing the Red Sea; Conquering the Promised Land
      • There is salvation and judgment side by side.
      • The Demand of the Gospel: Repent and believe for the Kingdom of God is at hand.
    • The immediate response should be repentance and faith. Why? Because the King is coming to save and to judge.
    • The Two Comings is the complete idea of the Kingdom of God
      • The King has come to saved us on the cross
      • The King will come to consummate the salvation and execute the final judgment
      • In between these, the King is saving and judging.
  • Jesus illustrates the Kingdom of God to a series of parables in this chapter.

The Preparation of Jesus for telling His series of parables
  • Jesus was teaching inside the house, then He went out and sat beside the sea.
  • There's a great crowd gathered about him
  • He got into the boat and sat down
  • He told many things about the parables - these are 8 parables in the series

The Parable: The Sower, The Seed, The Soil
Title of the Sermon: Will the Real Christian, Please Stand Up!
  • The Story
    • Sower sowing seeds and the seeds fell from different soils
      • Seeds fell along the path
        • The birds  came and devoured them
      • Seeds fell on rocky ground
        • Not have much soil
        • Immediately sprang up
        • Scorched by the sun because they had no depth
        • They withered away
      • Seeds fell among the thorns
        • Thorns grew up
        • Chocked the them
      • Seeds fell on good soil
        • Produced grain - hundred, sixty, thirty folds

  • The Explanation
    • The Sower - The bearer of the Word of God
    • The Seed - The Word of God
    • The Soil - The People who hears the Word of God

  • Seeds fell along the path (pavement)
    • The one who hears but does not understand the Word of God
      • These are the people whom the Lord does not give the revelation.
      • These are the people every time you tell the Gospel to bunch of crowds like this church never understand the Gospel
      • They are the one who keep on rejecting the Gospel
      • Why because the veil in their eyes has not been removed by God
    • Along the path means the pavement where the people are walking
      • It is hard and the seeds cannot penetrated in their heart
      • The Cause - The Word of God is removed by Satan
        • Hardened Heard - Rejecting the Gospel
        • Satan will deceive them telling them "Do not believe the preacher."
        • They don't care about the Word of God
Point: The Real Christian Understands the Word of God
Challenge: Do you still have the Word of God in your heart?

  • Seeds fell on the rocky ground
    • The one who hears and immediately receives it with joy without root
      • These are the people who receives the Gospel immediately
      • They are not careful.
      • These are those who heard the blessings, who wants to be in heaven
    • No Root - No Foundation - The Gospel does not root in the heart
      • Rocky ground means underneath the soil is a bedrock
      • The word of God does not penetrate because of the rock under
      • The Word of God has no foundation
    • They will fall away when the persecution on account of the word of God comes
      •  These people will not endure the persecution and tribulation because of the Gospel
      • We do not experiencing persecutions...Go and preach the Gospel!
Point: The Real Christian Endures against Persecutions
Challenge: Do you know that there is a cost to stand against the persecutions on account of the truth?

  • Seeds fell among the thorns
    • The one who hears the word of God but the cares and deceitfulness of the world chokes the word
      • These are people who are in the church lives among the Christians but the things of the world removes the word planted in the heart.
      • Many in the church today suffer in this kind of dilemma.
      • The troubles of life have eaten these people.
    • And it proves unfruitful
      • No evidence of life in Christ
      • They might be the  people who make Sunday Worship optional; no time for the thing of God; no ministry in the church
Point: The Real Christian Bears Fruits
Challenge: Do you overcome the temptations of this world?

  • Seed fell on the good soil
    • Who hears the Word of God and understands it.
      • These are the people who receives the Word of God and understand it.
      • These are the people in the church who knows that following Jesus Christ will cost their lives.
      • These are the people who treasures the things of God rather than the things of this world
        • Who trust God every time the cares of the world seized them.
      • They are the people who are fruitful…..who do the Will of God.

  • Which of the soils are you?
  • Are the evidences of a real Christian in you?
  • Do you understands the Word of God?
  • Do you endures little persecutions because of the Gospel?

Here Comes the Anointed King

Text: 1Samuel 17:1-58

I. INTRODUCTION
Today is the 17th year of the tragedy in Baguio due to 7.7 intensity earthquake. Imagine the condition of 2 people in the hopeless condition for 11 days. They were under of the debris of the hotel. After 4 days they starved and thirsty. If we are in that situation, we will think like it would be the end of ourselves. All they need is someone to rescue them amidst the hopeless and helpless condition. Israel was also amidst the hopeless and helpless condition in time of battle with the Philistines.

II.  BODY

  • 1Samuel 17 There was a battle.

The Israel was facing the greatest problem brought by their Goliath:

  • David's Victory

Scene 5 - The King and the Anointed King's Meeting (vv55-58)
  • The Inquiry about David (55-58a)
  • The Response of David (58b)

Note: The story is the picture of Calvary.
  • The hopeless and helpless condition of Israel is the same as the condition of the people of God.
    • Nothing can defeat Goliath the same as the sin no once can defeat only the one whom God anoints as king.
    • The anointed David is the type of the Anointed King who is willing to save His people from their helpless and hopeless condition.
CIS: The Anointed King is willing to deliver His people against their enemy.

  • Jesus the Christ is willing to save His people despite the REJECTION of His own.
    • He was undermined by the Jews because they see Jesus like David as weak.
    • There is no majesty as a king nor strength to save.
    • But Jesus shows His willingness to save His people from their sins on the cross on Calvary.
  • Jesus the Christ is willing to save His people despite the RISK from His Enemy
    • Sin is not just a tiny insignificant thing, it destroys people.
    • God summoned His Anointed One-Jesus Christ to crush the sin of the people while God the Father was crushing Him on the cross.
    • The enemy will strike His heel, but the Anointed King will crush the head of His enemy.

Conclusion:
Here is our Jesus - the Anointed King who is willing to save us from our sin.
And He will come again for the consummation of the battle He won on the cross.
To those who are not yet in relationship with this Anointed King
